Immune responses in the intestinal mucosa: Inflammation versus immunoregulation
We proudly present the speaker of our LOCOTACT Lecture in October 2022:
Prof. Dr. Astrid Westendorf (Institute of Medical Microbiology; University Hospital Essen)
Prof. Westendorf's research group studies the mechanisms responsible for the induction and control of a mucosal immune response. They are addressing tolerance induction in the gut, gastrointestinal infections and focus on developing nanoparticle-based therapeutic approaches. They investigate the extent to which intestinal inflammation influences the development of colorectal cancer.
